Inkheart

And now for something completely different.

The movies I have reviewed here have all been within the same vein of movies, Action packed! Big explosions! Hotter than Hell women! But we in the gaming world have two sides. One that consists of explosions...and one that have swords! Fuck yeah. Well, Inkheart doesn't have many swords, but it does have magic and within the realm of fantasy the nerd does feast.

Inkheart, based on he novel of the same name penned by Cornelia Funke (Strange name, really). Was a good book. It had an interesting concept, one that I had always been fascinated with. What if I was able to read characters from the pages of my story, what if I could GO into these books as I pleased. This is the central basis of the book and thereby, the movie.

But to what you REALLY what, was I entertained by the movie? Was it worth driving 15 miles, buy a ticket, and a coke on the Saturday night (God I'm pathetic). For me, yes. I enjoyed the movie. It was nothing special, but I recommend the matinee on a Wednesday afternoon.  The cast was good, don't get me wrong I was very impressed with Paul Bettany's work, who is possible one of my favorite actor, he true fit his part. For that matter, everyone did...save Brandon Fraiser, he didn't jive with the books character, while that isn't nessesarily a detraction from the movie, it was just a personal hang up.

The CGI was okay, nothing special was done, nothing extraordinary. But that is expected. That is sort of what categorizes this movie nicely. It was well done, by nothing extraordinary. Though to it's credit it did stay fairly true to the book, which I appreciate.

Overall I give this movie:

6.5 ticking crocodiles out of 10
